  5. This package contains the file "GIFConverter 2.2 Doc," which is in Glue format.

  7. WHY GLUE?
  8.  
  9. Typically, shareware developers pass documentation along in MacWrite format. I use Microsoft Word, and the MacWrite output is not all that great. The Glue format is machine-independent. Readers are free, so you don't have to own MacWrite in order to read or print this file.

  11. HOW CAN I USE THIS FILE?

  13. Two ways:

  15. 1) Use the OpenIt Viewer. This is the public domain version of the OpenIt DA. It can read the documentation file, display it on the screen, and print it to any printer. It is no longer supported, and does not work on the Macintosh IIci. You get the OpenIt Viewer on the diskette I send you when you register GIFConverter. Or, you can download it from the following locations:

  17. Compuserve: GO APPVEND, LIB 15, download file VIEWER
  18. America Online: Go to the Macintosh Business forum and download Open It Viewer.SIT.

  20. 2) The OpenIt Viewer is a bit large (80K stuffed) to download, so I've written a program called JustPrint. JustPrint is under 4K in size, so I put it into the StuffIt file with the documentation that I place online.

  22. 3) You can also use the free Glue Viewer available from many online services. The Glue Viewer license was too expensive to warrant placing it on this diskette. I'm working on my own viewer, which may be released on a GIFConverter diskette soon.

  24. JustPrint is easy to use:

  26. 1) Double-click the JustPrint icon.
  27.  
  28. 2) Choose the "GIFConverter 2.2 Doc" file from the file dialog box.
  29.  
  30. 3) You will now receive the Page Setup dialog box. You should print the documentation on letter size paper in portrait orientation. Click OK.

  32. 4) Now you get the Print dialog box. Choose the number of copies and the page range you wish to print. Click OK.

  34. 5) Wait for the document to print.

  36. The GIFConverter documentation uses the Times, Helvetica, and Courier fonts. These fonts are located on the Utilities 2 disk in the System Software provided by Apple. The documentation should print with high quality on a laser printer. Quality on an ImageWriter should be quite acceptable.
